Complete Guide: Interleave PDFs
Everything you need to know about using this tool effectively
The Interleave PDFs tool combines pages from multiple PDF documents by interleaving them in alternating order. Upload two or more PDFs and choose how to merge them - either round-robin (alternating pages) or sequential (all pages of first PDF, then all of next, etc.).
This tool merges multiple PDFs by taking pages from each document in sequence. With 'Round Robin' mode, it takes one page from each PDF in order (A1, B1, A2, B2...). With 'Sequential' mode, it adds all pages from the first PDF, then all from the second, and so on. The output maintains the original quality of all pages. All processing happens in your browser.
Merging duplex scans
Combine separately scanned front and back pages of double-sided documents into a single correctly ordered PDF.
Combining question and answer sheets
Interleave question pages with answer pages to create study documents with questions followed by their answers.
Merging translated documents
Alternate pages from an original language document with its translation for side-by-side reading reference.
Assembling multi-source reports
Combine pages from different department reports into a single document in any order you choose.
Upload PDF files
Click the upload area and select two or more PDF files. You can also drag and drop multiple files.
Reorder files (optional)
Use the arrow buttons to change the order of source files. This affects the page order in the output.
Choose interleaving mode
Select Round Robin (A1, B1, A2, B2...) or Sequential (all of A, then all of B...).
Download the result
Click 'Interleave PDFs' to merge and download the combined PDF.
For duplex scans, ensure both front and back scans have the same number of pages
Use the arrow buttons to change which PDF's pages come first
If documents have different lengths, shorter documents will finish first and remaining pages from longer documents will be appended
All processing happens in your browser - your files never leave your device
Can I interleave more than two PDFs?
Yes, you can upload as many PDFs as you need. The tool will interleave through all of them in sequence.
What's the difference between Round Robin and Sequential?
Round Robin takes one page from each PDF in order (A1, B1, C1, A2, B2, C2...). Sequential takes all pages from the first PDF, then all from the second, etc.
What happens if the PDFs have different page counts?
After the shortest document runs out of pages, remaining pages from longer documents are appended to the end.
Does interleaving reduce page quality?
No, interleaving only rearranges pages. All content, resolution, and formatting are preserved from the original documents.
Is my file secure?
Absolutely. All processing happens in your browser using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device.
